The Film
An Orange From Jaffa, directed by Mohammed Almughanni, won the International Grand Prix at the 2024 Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival. The film follows Mohammed, a Palestinian man trying to cross an Israeli checkpoint to reach his mother. Tension builds as his taxi driver, Farouk, discovers Mohammed has already failed to pass.
With standout performances from Samer Bisharat as Mohammed and Kamel El Basha as Farouk, the film explores the fear, uncertainty, and racial discrimination Palestinians face under occupation. Almughanni’s minimalist storytelling and Maciej Edelman’s intimate cinematography immerse viewers in the tense, urgent journey.
