About
The Film

When filmmaker Areeb was four, she traveled to Gaza and saw the sea for the first time. That moment—the magic of the sea and the smile on her Palestinian mother’s face—left a lasting impression. Years later, after watching a video of young men doing parkour on Gaza’s sandy shores, she is overwhelmed with nostalgia. The joy of the athletes contrasts sharply with the distant echoes of explosions.

Longing to reconnect with her past, Areeb contacts the parkour team and befriends Ahmed. Together, they explore what’s left of Gaza—navigating a cemetery, a decaying shopping center, and the ruins of an airport. As their bond deepens, Ahmed reveals the harsh realities of life in Gaza, and Areeb’s curiosity evolves into a profound understanding of his struggles.

Ahmed’s desire to escape Gaza triggers conflicting emotions in Areeb, who recognizes the emotional void such a departure can create. Areeb’s journey becomes not just a quest to reclaim memories but an exploration of identity, belonging, and the haunting legacy of a homeland left behind.
